Dixon Family YMCA is Hiring a Building Supervisor Near Dixon, IL

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position’s responsibility is to provide a positive presence in the facility and maintain a friendly and safe environment for all members and staff. The Dixon Family YMCA is here for all; we do not discriminate. Working with members of all ages is a crucial function, whether answering questions about equipment or using the building to enforce safety and rules within the facility and implementing disciplinary measures as needed, along with any paperwork for such. It is highly recommended to try and resolve misconduct by using respect for each other to come to a joint agreement to resolve the problem. The Y is here to build a better society, and most situations can be resolved reasonably. If an individual is unreasonable and must be expelled, a disciplinary and/or incident report must be fully filed. If it is a minor, a parent or guardian must be notified. In either case, the Member will have to meet with the CEO. If it is a member’s guest, the member is responsible, and both must be included in the report. In an event where CPR and/or first aid are needed, the supervisor will be able to take charge or provide support as determined by the events. Maintaining cleanliness in the building; very important, brooms, mops, wipes, towels, etc., are available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Service and support to members and staff within the facility.

2. Maintain communication with other YMCA staff through the utilization of two-way radio

or maintaining rounds.

3. Perform fitness orientations to new members on fitness equipment, demonstrate

usage of equipment if needed.

4. Monitor locked doors and adjoining areas to ensure that they are secure.

5. Regularly monitor the weight room and wellness center and assist as needed.

6. Locker rooms, bathrooms, wellness center, free weight room, and replenish needed paper supplies and disinfectant wipes. Empty trash and replenish it with a new garbage bag.

7. Facility, sweep, vacuum, and spot mop as needed to maintain cleanliness as necessary.

8. Watch for any equipment or facility malfunctions. Post out-of-service notices, when necessary.

Provide a written report of such to the Building Superintendent.

9. Understand and consistently apply YMCA emergency procedures and disciplinary guidelines.

Complete required incident/accident reports and cooperate fully with summoned professionals.

(police, fire, paramedics).

10. Assist desk supervisor with building tours, if needed.

11. Regularly check locker room(s). Perform needed housekeeping.

12. Regularly monitor gymnasium for proper member usage. Perform light maintenance as needed.

Raise/lower baskets, set up chairs and benches as instructed by Program Director.

13. Assist desk supervisor with building tours, if needed.

16. If needed, assist lifeguard(s) with enforcement of facility rules/disciplinary guidelines.

17. If needed, assist with winter facility/grounds care (i.e. salting sidewalks, snow removal, mopping floors).

18. Check front desk calendar and assist with class/meeting table and chair set-up/take-down as needed.

19. Closing procedure, make sure the building is vacant of members and guest you are the final person to leave, make sure doors are locked and secure, always make sure that the desk staff gets safely to their car.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to monitor and educate members in proper usage of the YMCA facility in a consistent and fair manner.

2. Excellent verbal communication skills are required.

3. Must be able to perform more than one task simultaneously in an efficient manner.

4. Must be able to move throughout the facility and perform routine tasks, some of which may involve physical exertion (i.e. setting up/taking down tables and chairs, picking up weights, etc.).

5. Must be able to lift 50 pounds weights.

Work Hours

This is a part-time position with a schedule of hours set and agreed upon between the YMCA supervisor and the employee. Except seasonal employees, the scheduled hours for all YMCA part-time positions will not exceed 20 hours/week.

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $14.00 - $15.50/hour.
